Biosafety And Biosecurity In Bangladesh

The establishment of the Society was initiated in August 2011 as a professional society to foster best and sustainable Biosafety and Biosecurity practices in Bangladesh considering the current situation of infectious diseases outbreaks and increasing demands for research and diagnostics of these disease-causing agents. Since the Society is organizing Annual Conference and Preconference workshop every year. Society is also organizing other events, like- baseline assessment of the biosafety and biosecurity status of the laboratories, organizing sensitization and training programs for scientists and researchers in academia and research organizations, annual biosafety cabinet (BSC) certification program, and initiating institutional biosafety committee (IBC). Society played a key role in COVID-19 pandemic control, in the country, organizing weekly training, counseling, workshop and QA sessions for the workers working in testing laboratories in Bangladesh.
